Amanda Serrano’s Controversial Loss to Katie Taylor
Before Mike and Jake Paul stepped into the ring, viewers watched Amanda and Katie’s match. While Amanda was initially slated as the underdog in the match in the days before the fight, by the day of the fight she had risen to be the favorite.
In the sixth round, things got bloody when Katie headbutted Amanda which resulted in a large gash opening up above her right eye. Despite the wound, Amanda finished the match, but lost in a controversial decision by the judges. The crowd, along with Amanda and her trainer, were shocked at the loss.
“Listen, I knew everyone, the judges, [were] going to be a little shady, but I came here and I chose to be great,” Amanda said during the post-fight interview that took place in the ring. “I went up three divisions and I lost in two. I dared to be great tonight.”
Amanda also threw some shade at her opponent when she claimed that Katie “kept headbutting [her]” and that was something “they knew from the very beginning.”
When asked if she thought Katie’s headbutts were “intentional,” Amanda replied, “100 percent. She does it in every fight.”
Amanda Serrano Apologized to Katie Taylor for Her Remarks
The following day on November 16, 2024, it appeared that Amanda had cooled off and offered Katie an apology.
“Congratulations to @KatieTaylor in her decision win. Tempers are flared when you’re in the heat of battle & you say things you shouldn’t say. I’m not one to ever disrespect an opponent & these were never my intentions to Katie,” Amanda wrote via X. “She & I are cool outside the ring and the best dance partners in the ring. In no way should I ever had said she did it purposely, it’s her style that makes for them. I’m not perfect and tho I try my hardest to be the nicest person I can be I’m human & being emotionally hurt can sometimes misguide you in what you say.”
