Tish Cyrus Is ‘Struggling’ With Anxiety After Quitting Weed

Tish Cyrus has been opening up about the anxiety she’s suffering since quitting weed. However, sources are applauding her for taking the step as she looks to stay on the same healthy path in 2025, even though it’s a daily rollercoaster.

“Tish is struggling. She misses being able to relax and smoke a joint and have her anxiety fade away, but unfortunately, she just can’t do that anymore because smoking actually makes her anxiety even worse,” a source exclusively tells In Touch. “So, she’s trying to find healthier ways to cope with her stress.”

The insider says that the music manager, 57, is “turning to” exercise, yoga and meditation. Tish has also found support from family members, including daughter Miley Cyrus.

“Miley has been a huge support system for her and a great example because she’s totally sober and really believes it’s the best path, but she’s also not giving her mom a guilt trip because the truth is Tish might start smoking weed again,” the source continues. “She still sees a lot of positives in it and wishes that she could use it help with her anxiety again. The problem is that right now any time she has tried to smoke again it’s only made her anxiety ten times worse, so she’s legitimately scared to pick it up again.”

The Last Song executive producer first revealed in October 2024 that she had quit smoking weed five months prior. As a result, she and daughter Brandi Cyrus rebranded their podcast name from “Sorry We’re Stoned” to “Sorry We’re Cyrus.” Brandi, 37, was not a marijuana smoker, so the original name was only a nod to Tish’s habit.

“Everybody knows that I love smoking weed. Weed was my brand,” Tish said at the time. “But I have now not smoked for five months. So we are back with a new name, ‘Sorry We’re Cyrus.’”

However, during the January 2 episode of the podcast, Tish revealed that seven months of being marijuana-free has left her with severe anxiety.

“It was kind of by accident that I stopped smoking,” she explained. “I went on vacation and it was somewhere I could not have pot and like three days in, [I] had the worst anxiety I’ve ever had in my life. And when I tried to smoke again … Nope.”

Though the momager admitted that she experienced “so much anxiety” without weed, she also found that after she quit, the drug only made her anxiety “even worse” whenever she tried it again.

“I smoked pretty hardcore for like, 10 years. The last seven months has been so bad for me. Like, major anxiety,” Tish continued. “It really did just help me in so many ways. And lately I just have not been OK.”

Tish previously revealed that she started smoking in her 40s as a coping mechanism after Miley’s tour bus fire.

“I was on tour with Miley and she had gone on — we were going from like, Houston to New Orleans — and I stayed behind to meet up with friends and on the way to New Orleans our bus caught on fire,” she explained to E!’s Daily Pop in 2021, noting that she turned to marijuana when Ambien didn’t help her sleep.
