Teyana Taylor Fighting Ex Iman’s Demand She Be Thrown in Jail

Teyana Taylor fired back at her ex-husband Iman Shumpert’s demand she be thrown in jail for up to 20 days and be found in criminal contempt for allegedly violating terms of their divorce judgment, In Touch can exclusively report.

On May 14, Teyana, 34, responded to Iman’s petition for contempt.

In her filing, obtained by In Touch, the entertainer denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

She scoffed at the suggestion she had “willfully and contemptuously exposed and broadcast specific provisions of” their divorce judgment “and related provisions, recklessly disregarding the financial circumstances, privacy, safety and security of the parties and their minor children.”

Teyana denied Iman’s claim he had suffered “loss of income and damage to his personal reputation and professional reputation.”

In his petition, Iman, 34, said the “precise amount” he was damaged would be calculated later.

In addition, Teyana denied the former NBA star’s claims she had taken their children out of school “for no reason which would qualify as an excused absence” or that she interfered with his right to pick up the children on April 17.

In his petition against Teyana, Iman claimed she, in the presence of their children, complained about, criticized and blamed Iman. “[Teyana] has denigrated and spoken ill of [Iman] in the presence of the children,” his lawyer alleged.

His lawyer added, “For example, in the presence of the children, [Teyana] has shouted crude and inflammatory racial insults at [Iman]. Such insults and criticism of [Iman] have caused the children to unjustly suffer stress and worry, unfairly placing the children in the self-imposed position of peacemaker between the parents.”

Iman’s lawyer continued, “Insulting [Iman] in the presence of his children was maliciously intended to damage the relationship between [Iman] and child. Denigrating and insulting [Iman] in the presence of his children is a contemptuous violation of the orders of his court.”

Teyana denied the allegations she insulted Iman in front of their children.

She asked the court to dismiss Iman’s petition and not find her in contempt of court.

Iman asked the court to fine Teyana $1,000 and/or imprisonment for up to 20 days.

As In Touch previously reported, Iman’s accusations came days after Teyana accused him of being in contempt of court.

In her filing, Teyana said she believed Iman had leaked sealed court documents related to their divorce. She brought the case after seeing inaccurate reports on blogs surface.

Teyana’s lawyer wrote, “[Iman] has consistently exhibited an alarming disregard for the consequences of his contemptuous behavior and should be found in willful contempt of the Court’s Decree.”

The entertainer asked for Iman to be jailed for up to 20 days. After the news broke of Teyana’s motion for contempt, the singer took to Instagram to deny she wanted Iman in jail.

“I never tried to send Iman to jail. I’m still not trying to send Iman to jail,” she said despite her petition asking for his incarceration.

Iman’s lawyer, Stephen C. Steele, spoke out about Teyana’s petition for contempt against his client. “My client, Mr. Iman Shumpert, has never whatsoever leaked any allegations or claims stated in any of the pleadings in” the divorce,” his attorney said.

He added, “Mr. Shumpert adamantly denies that he has provided any information to any media. Specifically, but without limitations, he denies that he leaked any information which may have served as the basis for the multiple news reports preceding the trial of this matter.”
