T.I. and Tiny Plead With Judge to Not Postpone Trial With Ex-Friend

Rapper T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny’ Cottle,” asked a L.A. judge to shut down their former friend Sabrina Peterson’s plea to postpone their upcoming trial, In Touch can exclusively report.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, T.I. (real name: Clifford Harris) and Tiny, 49, scoffed at Sabrina’s request to push the December 10 trial to at least June 10, 2025.

In a recent motion, Sabrina claimed that she hired a new legal team in September. Her new attorneys said they needed additional time to review the case, develop case strategy and adequately prepare for trial or a possible settlement.

The new legal team said, “The practical reality is that [Sabrina] is in a position where the most basic necessary groundwork to prepare for trial remains incomplete — her lawyers do not even have the case file that predecessor counsel said he would provide.”

T.I., 44, and Tiny said the request should be denied and the trial date not be moved. The couple said Sabrina had failed to prosecute the case, had failed to conduct any discovery, failed to appear at hearings and has “continually flouted this court’s order to pay” them $96,702 in attorney fees.

The duo’s powerhouse attorney, Andrew Brettler, noted, “Moreover, for months, [Sabrina] has taken to social media to flout this court’s orders and express her desire to get her day in court. Now, years after filing her complaint, and on the eve of trial, she is suddenly unprepared for trial, requests that the trial be continued for six months, and requests this Court to reopen discovery.”

Andrew added, “[Sabrina] cannot have it both ways. The discovery deadlines have lapsed. She has continuously failed to prosecute the action. Any such “emergency” is of [Sabrina’s] own making, and the application [to postpone the trial] should be denied accordingly.”

As In Touch previously reported, Sabrina sued T.I. and Tiny in 2021 for defamation, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress and various other claims.

Sabrina publicly accused T.I. of pulling a gun on her and threatening to kill her after she got into a verbal argument with his assistant. She also accused T.I. and Tiny of abusing women. Tiny responded to the public accusations by posting a photo of Sabrina’s son with T.I. on social media. She captioned the post, “Hold up …. So you want your abuser to train your son … now when did you say my husband assaulted you? Did you change your mind or change it back? What’s up wit you today Pooh? I’m confused. Stop harassing my family. You strange. Everybody know you been special. Please Get help.”

T.I. and Tiny denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the suit. In court documents, their lawyer called Sabrina “an adjudged liar, a convicted felon with a lengthy rap sheet for crimes involving dishonesty and violent assault.”

The court dismissed several of Sabrina’s claims, which led to T.I. and Tiny being awarded nearly $100,000 in legal fees.

The couple attempted to have the entire case thrown out due to Sabrina missing the deadline to pay. The court denied the request but allowed T.I. and Tiny to file a motion to find Sabrina in contempt.

The judge has yet to rule on Sabrina’s motion to push the trial.
