Sister Wives’ Mykelti Brown Implies That Meri Abused Kody

Sister Wives star Christine Brown’s daughter Mykelti Padron (née Brown) seemingly implied that dad Kody Brown was physically and verbally abused by Meri Brown during their marriage.

“There was a YouTuber who made a video wondering if Meri was abusive, either mentally or physically or both, to your dad, and that’s why he treated her the way he did,” Mykelti, 28, said in a recent Q&A video, as seen in footage shared by Instagram blogger Without a Crystal Ball on November 22.

“I’m not saying anything,” Christine’s second eldest child said after feigning a shocked reaction. “Anything I say in response to that, I could probably get in trouble with. So whether I … anything, honestly. But I think that if you’re thinking it, and other people are thinking it too, you guys are probably not far off. And that’s all I’m gonna say there. ‘Cause I know there’s a million and a half YouTubers that watch this and I just don’t want to deal with being called and getting in trouble. So that’s all I’m gonna say.”

It’s not the first time that Mykelti has spoken out about claims that Meri, 53, was abusive toward Kody, 55, and the 18 children he shares with the Lizzie’s Heritage Inn owner, Christine, 52, Janelle Brown and Robyn Brown.

“I’m speaking on my own personal experiences and opinion on Meri Brown. I don’t want to discount my siblings’ experiences with her,” Mykelti said in a Patreon clip in January 2023. “I don’t remember Meri ever being physically abusive to me. She was very emotionally and verbally abusive to all of us when we were younger.”

She claimed that the alleged abuse stopped when the kids “got old enough” and they were “able to fight back.”

“I honestly think I got the brunt of it,” the TLC personality continued. “My siblings have told me multiple times that they think that I did receive the worst that she gave. However, I think that we were all affected by her.”

Mykelti later said that Meri would “not, nor will she ever be, part of my life nor my husband’s or my kids’ lives because of the trauma I experienced as a child growing up.” She shares three kids with husband Antonio “Tony” Padron.

“I don’t think [Meri is] a terrible person, but I don’t think she’s necessarily a nice person,” Mykelti added, although she concluded that she wished Meri “the best.”

Mykelti addressed the claims after Christine and Kody’s son, Paedon Brown, alleged in an interview with John Yates that Meri’s abuse “moved so far past verbal. Verbal basically stopped existing.”

Christine and Kody’s daughter Gwendlyn Brown also said in a January 2023 Patreon video, “[Meri] was scary as a kid but she never attacked me and I only saw her violent once. That was all a long time ago.”

Meri has not addressed the abuse allegations. She and Kody announced their split in January 2023 after more than 30 years together.

“In light of a recent unapproved press release, we feel compelled to share our own truth, in our own way and in our own timing,” they shared in a joint statement on Instagram. “After more than a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways, we have made the decision to permanently terminate our marriage relationship.”

During the Sunday, November 24, episode of Sister Wives, Kody called Meri his “favorite ex-wife.”

“OK, alright. Meri, it’s the end of an era,” the Brown Family Entertainment founder said as he helped his ex move into her new Utah home. “It was a great run but I’m not gonna let it get me down.”

He continued, “I’m looking at my life and it feels – not turned upside down – [but] it feels like everything … we had something. … We had something special. And it feels like it just all went to s–t sort of and there’s just one thing and another thing and another thing. It’s OK. I don’t feel like … I’m not bitter anymore. I’m not angry. I’m glad you and I got that figured out. I’m glad we’re able to be friends. I’m glad you’re my favorite ex-wife. But it’s the weirdest thing to be in that place. It’s just heartbreaking in a way. I love the life I have, but it’s a very different life than what I had three years ago, you know? It just seemed like everybody else just went, ‘This isn’t important.’”
