Scenes from the hard left’s takeover of the Democratic Party

The ultra-left’s conquest of the Democratic Party continues apace, as extremists triumph over more centrist candidates in primaries across the country.

The dynamic may be most visible in Maine, where Graham Platner drove old-line Dem Gov. Janet Mills out of the race before the primary even happened.

Platner is as hard-left as they come: all out on gender extremism, pushing anti-Israel lunacy to the extreme (including publicly cheering antisemitic conspiracy theorists) and screaming about the rich despite his own ultra-privileged background.

(And that’s to say nothing of his Nazi tattoo, or his bizarre non-political public posting history, with its paeans to masturbation and mockery of a soldier under fire).

A favorite of the Bernie Bros and online/podcast progressives, Platner massively out-raised Mills and soon out-polled her.

The trend’s even more obvious in House races.

Witness the victory of Chris Rabb in Pennsylvania’s 3rd District, the bluest in the nation, making him a lock to win in November.

Backed by AOC and her Squadmates Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, the proud socialist won a hotly fought primary over also-progressive but less-rabid state Sen. Sharif Street and Dr. Ala Stanford.

What plainly put Rabb over the top was his bloodthirsty Israel-hate (which also won him the endorsement of the vile Hasan Piker); he made promoting the Gaza-genocide lie central to his campaign.

Here in New York, “genocide”-obsessed Brad Lander seems poised to unseat Rep. Dan Goldman (B’klyn-Manhattan) in next month’s Democratic primary, while the DSA’s Claire Valdez is neck-and-neck with Brooklyn beep Antonio Reynoso, who’s endorsed by retiring Rep. Nydia Velazquez; both hard-lefties have Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s enthusiastic support.

California has seen outgoing Rep. Nancy Pelosi endorse megaleftist San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan for her safe-blue seat; Chan has promoted the Gaza-genocide lie and demands punitive taxation of those evil billionaires.

Already in the House is the Squad’s newest pal, Rep. Analilia Mejia, an AOC-endorsed Working Families Party veteran who triumphed as the most radical Dem in a New Jersey special-election primary this spring, handily winning the general in April.

This Israel-basher now holds what used to be a suburban swing seat, which opened up after the moderate-identifying Mikie Sherrill became governor.

A bit further south, in Jersey’s safely Democratic 12th District, the leader is Adam Hamawy — a man who buddied up with “Blind Sheikh” Omar Abdel Rahman, spiritual adviser to the bombers behind the 1993 World Trade Center truck bombing. (And at least 11 of the 13 Dem candidates are anti-Israel.)

Taking the cake is sex therapist Maureen Galindo, who’s in a primary runoff after finishing first in the initial voting in Texas’s 35th District.

Galindo has vowed to turn ICE facilities into a “prison for American Zionists” — a bridge too far even for AOC, who blew up at Galindo on X . . . a safe-enough move since the other candidate, Johnny Garcia, is nearly as far left.

In other words, from coast to coast, the Democratic Party is undergoing generational change — with its most radical, anti-American and anti-Israel elements taking over.

The hard-left faction will soon be gunning to replace Rep. Hakeem Jeffries with one of their own as Dem leader in the House.

And if the party wins control of Congress, they’ll work to push through everything from fully socialized medicine (“Medicare for All”) to abolishing ICE and cutting off all US ties to Israel.

What will it take for sane Democrats to win back control of their party?
