RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) – Planning for a Summer 2026 visit from President Donald Trump is underway in the Black Hills.
On Wednesday, the Pennington County Sheriff’s office confirmed to KELOLAND News the state is preparing for President Trump to celebrate the nation’s birthday at Mount Rushmore.
Earlier this year, Republican Gov. Larry Rhoden and Republican Rep. Dusty Johnson both invited the president to the fireworks show at Mount Rushmore.
The fireworks show is scheduled for July 3rd.
The United States of America is also celebrating its 250th birthday in 2026. Mount Rushmore is featured prominently on the America 250 section of the White House government website.
