One dead and house fire in Brandon Standoff

A man died inside a residence in Brandon after the U.S. Marshall service and the Minnehaha Sheriff’s Office attempted to perform a warrant arrest.
The Marshalls were met with gunfire from the suspect upon their attempt to arrest and soon created a perimeter around the residence, calling the sheriff’s office for assistance.
Law enforcement used negotiators and chemical agents to try and apprehend the suspect. The suspect was not responsive to the negotiators and the incident was ongoing for several hours. No law enforcement fired a gun during the standoff, according to Chief Deputy Jeff Gromer of the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect was the only person to fire a gun, authorities said.
According to state sex offender website, the suspect listed with the same address is Abe Joseph Boushee, a 43-year-old Brandon resident. Boushee is also facing the same drug and gun charges along with two felony bond violations listed by Gromer during the briefing.
Shortly after law enforcement left, a fire broke out in the suspect’s residence. Brandon Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire. It is unknown what started the fire.
Residents in the neighborhood were evacuated for the duration of the incident, which lasted around five to six hours.
The suspect was found dead inside the home due to fire. Early on in the incident, law enforcement determined he was the only occupant in the home
