Nick Jonas Sprints Off Stage After Red Laser Is Pointed at Him
Nick Jonas sprinted off the stage after a red laser was pointed at him during a Jonas Brothers concert in Prague.
While the Jonas Brothers were performing during their tour stop at the O2 Arena on Tuesday, October 15, Nick, 32, was captured running off stage while making a “time out” sign with his hands. It was later confirmed that he dashed from a secondary stage after a laser pointer targeted him. Soon after the “Jealous” singer ran off the stage, he was followed by brothers Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas.
Following the incident, a representative for the O2 Arena confirmed that the show was halted for several minutes. “We can confirm that the Jonas Brothers’ performance had to be interrupted for several minutes due to the use of a prohibited laser pointer by the person,” the O2 Arena spokesperson said in a statement obtained by Variety on Wednesday, October 16. “The organizing service responded to this fact. After a few minutes, the band continued their performance.”
Once the situation was seemingly under control, the musicians returned to the stage and performed their 2008 hit “BB Good,” according to a fan account on X.
Joe, 35, has been active on social media since the concert ended, though he has not commented on the incident. Meanwhile, neither Nick nor Kevin, 36, have publicly commented on the matter.
While the brothers have remained quiet about the scary incident, many fans took to social media to express their concerns about the safety of the singers. “That’s actually so scary,” one person wrote via X in response to the video, which has since circulated online. Another fan added, “Security should be tightened.”
Others pointed out how potentially serious the incident could have been. “People use lasers when aiming with a sniper so idk why anyone thinks he’s overreacting. Come on it’s his life,” an additional person wrote, as someone else chimed in, “It’s not an overreaction when their safety is at risk. Aiming anything that resembles a sniper or a weapon in general should never be taken lightly.”
“Omg I’m so glad they are all safe,” another person commented, while one X user said that Nick “handled that laser threat like a pro, but artists shouldn’t have to face this.”
The Jonas Brothers are currently on the European leg of their world tour, which is simply titled The Tour. Their final show is set to be held at the Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland, on October 16.
Nick hasn’t actively posted about the tour on social media, though he did express his excitement about returning to the tour after a hiatus to perform in Mexico City in August. “Feels incredible to be back on #THETOUR! Thank you for your patience and bringing the energy last night in Mexico City,” he captioned videos from the show via Instagram. “Who are we seeing for Night 2?”
Additionally, he also reflected on their first show in Portugal in June. “Our debut in Portugal last night wasn’t anything short of incredible,” he captioned clips from the show. “Seriously there are no words to describe how lucky we feel to have had 85,000 of you singing back to us. We love each and every one of you.”
