Laura Prepon’s Ex Ben Foster Asks Judge For Help With Custody
Laura Prepon’s estranged husband, Ben Foster, claimed they have been unable to reach a temporary parenting plan or holiday schedule for their kids amid their divorce, and now he’s asking a judge to step in, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Ben, 44, filed a motion asking the court for help on the matter.
The actor explained he was married to Laura, 44, for six years and they are parents to “two minor children, ages seven and four.”
His lawyer added, “Both parties are loving, dedicated parents who have shared parenting responsibilities. It is in the best interests of the children to maximize each party’s parenting time.”
Ben’s lawyer continued, “[Ben] has personally attempted to reach a resolution with [Laura] in setting a parenting plan schedule that affords each with substantive parenting time, but all efforts have been unsuccessful.”
Ben asked the court to enter a parenting plan schedule consistent with the “children’s best interests affording each parent with defined parenting time.”
The actor said he would also like each parent to have one week of parenting time during the children’s winter break.
A hearing was scheduled for later this month for the parties to make their case.
As In Touch first reported, Ben, 44, filed for divorce in September. He listed the date of separation as September 9.
Ben and Laura wed on May 25, 2018. The exes share two children, a daughter named Ella and a second child whose name they have not revealed.
In his petition, Ben explained that they signed a prenuptial agreement before getting hitched. He asked that the deal be enforced.
Back in 2021, Laura spoke out about her decision to leave the Church of Scientology. She said, “I’ve always been very open-minded, even since I was a child. I was raised Catholic and Jewish. I’ve prayed in churches, meditated in temples. I’ve studied Chinese meridian theory.”
Laura added, “I haven’t practiced Scientology in close to five years and it’s no longer part of my life.”
Ben was never a practicing member of the Church, according to reports.
“We meditate daily and I’m really liking it … because it’s something that helps me to hear my own voice and it’s something we can do together,” Laura said.
In a 2019 interview, Laura revealed about how her and Ben balanced their careers with raising their children. “Ben and I are really great about if I’m at work, he’s [at home], and if he’s at work, I’m [at home],” she said.
She continued, “[But] I do feel guilty, and I just know that [Ella would] be proud if she knew. I’ve talked to a bunch of women [asking], ‘How do you do this?’ And they’re just like, ‘There’s really no solution. You just do it.’”
Laura was seen recently on Netflix’s That 90’s Show, which is a spinoff of That 70’s show. She returned as her character Donna Pinciotti.
Laura is also known for her role on the hit Netflix show Orange is the New Black, which aired from 2013 to 2019.
