Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker are loving life with son Rocky and are planning to forge ahead with surrogacy plans in the year ahead, a source exclusively tells In Touch.
The insider says that Kourtney, 45 is “hoping for a girl this time,” but she’s “not ruling out the prospect of twins.”
“Kourtney has been very open about wanting another baby with Travis and they are trying the old-fashioned way pretty much non-stop. But if that doesn’t work this time, using a surrogate is on the table,” the source reveals. “It’s worked out well for Kim [Kardashian] and Khloé [Kardashian], so Kourtney has seen all the positives first hand.”
The insider adds that The Kardashians star “obviously hates the process of getting her eggs taken out.” However, Kourtney “also really wants more kids.”
“If that’s the only way to make it happen she’s open to it. She’s got the full support of Travis on this because he wants another baby, or two, with her as well,” the source explains. “They both think having twins would be a huge plus, either a boy and a girl or twin girls. The exciting thing is if they do use a surrogate, that’s actually totally doable. Nothing is in the works yet, and for now, they’re still hoping to do this naturally, but if not, they will turn to science for help.”
This isn’t the first time Kourtney and the Blink-182 star, 49, have discussed potentially using a surrogate to expand their family. The couple experienced a health scare when Kourtney was rushed to the hospital for emergency fetal surgery to save baby Rocky’s life in September 2023. While the Poosh founder was pregnant, Rocky developed fluid in his lungs.
“I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life,” Kourtney wrote in a message posted on Instagram following the surgery. “I am eternally grateful to my husband, who rushed to my side from [Blink-182’s European tour] to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this.”
The mom of four continued, “As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant. Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing.”
In January 2024, a source told the Daily Mail that her overall pregnancy with the youngest Barker was “difficult,” which led to Kourtney and Travis exploring surrogacy as an option after Rocky’s birth in November 2023.
“Kourt had a difficult pregnancy with Rocky. She and Travis are beyond blessed that it worked out the way it did,” the insider told the publication at the time. “It was touch and go for a moment, but everyone is healthy and happy, and it has made them want even more children together.”
The source continued, “Since Rocky is so young and they are enjoying him, next year would be the soonest time to start thinking about more kids. They have talked about trying for another child, but this time around they would likely go through a surrogate. It is a consistent conversation between them that hasn’t changed to a ‘no.’”
