Cold-blooded dad drove son, teen pal to execute rival — but they killed man who bought his car: DA

A twisted Bronx dad drove his 24-year-old son and their teen pal to kill a rival outside a local laundromat — but gunned down the wrong man in a tragic case of mistaken identity, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Failed father Norman Moore, 64, allegedly chauffeured his troubled son, Devonte Moore, and the teen to Laundry Bee in Olinville to settle a score on Oct. 7, according to prosecutors.

That’s when their 16-year-old companion, who has not been identified due to his age, got out and allegedly riddled a parked Volkswagen Passat with bullets, striking 26-year-old Fareed Adeyi.

Adeyi, who bought the SUV from the intended target weeks earlier, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The botched hit now has all three accused killers locked up without bail after Norman Moore was arraigned on a murder indictment Tuesday — and his son due to suffer the same fate on Dec. 15.

The teen was already arraigned on an indictment and is due back in court on Dec. 18.

The Moores, whom police said did not know Adeyi, were allegedly gunning for the thug who got into a shootout with Devonte Moore on White Plains Road on Aug. 23, wounding both men.

Adeyi’s father could not immediately be reached for comment.

But in an interview with the Daily News, Kareem Adeyi said his son was working as an Amazon delivery driver and had aspirations to join the US Marine Corps before he was senselessly gunned down.

The elder Adeyi told the outlet that his son bought the vehicle from his friend, 26-year-old Carlton McKenzie, unaware that he was allegedly involved in a feud with Devonte Moore.

“I blame him,” the grieving dad said of McKenzie. “If [McKenzie] had told my son about the trouble, my son would have never bought the car. Never, never, never.”

Court records show that McKenzie is free on a $100,000 bond on attempted murder charges in the Aug. 23 shooting and is due back in court on Dec. 8.

Devonte Moore was arraigned on attempted murder charges in the earlier shooting on Oct. 31 and was ordered held without bail on that case.

He is due to be arraigned in Adeyi’s death on Dec. 15.
