Apple fans beg company to recall trendy new accessory over faults

Oh, my pod.

Apple partisans who ponied up for a pair of the pricey new AirPods Max are calling the headphones a “nightmare” — blaming stubborn Bluetooth connectivity issues and short-lived functionality for their frustration.

“I love Apple but the AirPods Max are the worst things I’ve ever purchased,” lamented one fan online, while another called the trendy product their “worst buy this year.”

Apple’s discussion forums are littered with entries from disgruntled customers voicing complaints against the devices, while users on social media have griped that that their $549 over-ear headphones are practically useless.

“@Apple you seriously need to recall these…AirPods Max because they f–king suck,” one frustrated person wrote on X. “I’m on my second pair and they still don’t work. I’m not the only person complaining about this either. They literally never connect.”

“Mine is connecting/disconnecting all the time,” moaned another X user.

“I know Apple products are designed to [break] after [a] couple of years, but this one is 4 months old,” he joked.

“Absolutely hate the constant Bluetooth issues on the #AirPodsProMax,” someone else wrote. “Anyone else face this or is it my accursed fate?”

Some Redditors have griped about the fit of the headphones, saying that the headband became stretched out in a short period of time and caused pain or discomfort.

Others claimed that the “smallest movement” of their head caused the noise output to stop and the headphones to become disconnected, too.

One person claimed to have experienced “audio skipping, poor range connection, really loud popping sounds at the start of videos on one ear” and connectivity issues, despite never damaging the product.

People are so fed up with the technical issues that they vowed to switch to another company’s product entirely, ditching their AirPods for good.

“Aaaand my AirPods Max are dead again. Worked perfectly for about two weeks and dead as a doormouse,” one person wailed on X. “Well, I guess I’m switching over to my Sonys permanently now.”

“The battery life on the Apple Max headphones gotta be a joke, bro — other than the noise cancellation, these headphones suck. Literally took my brother’s Beat headphones and the battery life is way better,” another complained.

While Apple did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment, one customer revealed their hack for fixing their AirPods Max headphones in a discussion forum.

“After a frustrating few months with my out of warranty AirPods Max (Audio stopping on the right earphone before disconnecting and resetting; attempting factory resets to no avail; buttons not working; etc.), I think I’ve finally got them in good working order again and wanted to share the steps I used to do so,” they wrote.

The user advised resetting the AirPods Max by forgetting the headphones in the Bluetooth settings of your personal device — whether smartphone or laptop — and shut down all of the devices attached to your iCloud.

Then, initiate a factory reset on the AirPods Max by pressing the noise control and digital crown buttons for 15 seconds, followed by adequately cleaning the headphones. Then, restart the iCloud devices and reset the AirPods Max before attempting to connect again.

“Your headphones should now be connected and visible across all devices,” they wrote. “Try playing audio from a connected device.”
