Angelina Jolie’s ‘Haters Lining Up’ to Snub ‘Maria’ at the Oscars (EXCL)

Angelina Jolie may have more friends than she used to in Hollywood, but she’s still hated by a slew of “mean girls,” such as Jennifer Aniston, Annette Bening, Laura Dern, Mary McCormack and Andrea Riseborough – the same group of powerful actresses who teamed up to vote Andrea into a shock Best Actress nomination two years ago  – and a now source close to the situation exclusively tells In Touch Angie’s increasingly fearful they’ll unite to sabotage her chances of Oscars glory at this year’s awards.

“Angelina has the enviable position of being Netflix’s most viable Best Actress candidate, and they’re already spending real money to get the word out and get her very strong performance in Maria shortlisted,” the insider says. “The problem from the perspective of Angelina’s team is that Netflix’s millions might not be enough this year, especially with Hollywood absolutely teeming with middle-aged actresses who are aligned with Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and their vast social networks.”

The Salt actress, 49, is banking on her performance in the upcoming biopic to reignite her career after the disappointment of her passion project, Without Blood, which has been savaged by reviews so far.

While she’s been recruiting some Hollywood heavy hitters to her camp as of late, including old friend Selma Hayek, a cadre of anti-Angie stars is pushing to make sure the sweat and tears she’s poured into making Maria amounts to nothing but a passing mention.

“Angie has some powerful friends too, but it’s Jen’s group that has been proven to be able to steer the course of the nomination process, which is exactly what they did two years ago.”

A second source previously dished to In Touch that, “You’d hope for Angie’s sake, after all she put herself through to make Maria, that she could neutralize this threat but Jen’s social network is incredibly powerful, it’s tightly knit, and it’s full of A-listers.”

Surprisingly, in an enemy of my enemy is my friend-type move, Angie’s rival Jen, 55, who was kicked to the curb by Brad Pitt for the Mr. & Mrs. Smith star in 2005, has teamed up with her Troy actor ex husband to work towards snubbing the actress at the Oscars.

Brad, 60, for his part, is hyping up Nicole Kidman’s movie Babygirl, one of the main competitors to Maria this season, to try to hit back at his ex, with whom he’s embroiled in a nasty decade-long divorce battle.

The first source continues: “Making peace with these people isn’t an option and it’s not how Angelina does things. It’s an extremely stressful position for Angie to be in, even more challenging than the transformation she made into Maria Callas to get into this position in the first place.”

According to the insider, Angie’s strongest chances lie with the fact her movie is being released by Netflix, which has a lot of juice with the Academy.

“Again, Netflix is going to be key here, because it means a lot of people all over the world are going to have instant access to Angie’s movie the second it is online.”

“Is that widespread availability going to be able to compensate for Angelina’s haters lining up to keep her from winning an Oscar this season? We’re about to find out.”
