PHOENIX (AZFamily/Gray News) — Thursday marks the first anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s death.
Kirk was shot and killed Sept. 10, 2025, while speaking to a crowd in Orem, Utah.
A pop-up window on Turning Point USA’s website marks the anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s death.
“For the people who knew and loved Charlie, September 10 will never simply be an anniversary. It is the day our lives changed forever,” the website reads. “… We miss him. We grieve him. And we will never forget him.”
Memorial outside TPUSA Arizona headquarters
Outside of Turning Point’s headquarters in Phoenix, organizers appeared to be setting up for an event to honor Kirk Thursday morning. Since his death, a memorial has been set up outside headquarters gates, with posters of Kirk, candles and flowers.
Few details about the Arizona event were publicly released. Arizona’s Family has reached out to Turning Point USA for more information.
Charlie Kirk galvanized the youth vote for Trump during the last presidential election. His organization, Turning Point USA, has more than 800 college chapters nationwide.

Kirk launched his organization, Turning Point USA, in 2012, targeting younger people and venturing onto liberal-leaning college campuses where many GOP activists were nervous to tread.
Campus tours, which were a major part of Charlie Kirk’s mission, have also resumed.
Memorial planned at Utah Valley University
Turning Point USA announced that a public memorial will be held Thursday evening at Utah Valley University, where Kirk was killed while hosting a campus event.
Several guests are planned to attend the event, including conservative political commentators Michael Knowles and Glenn Beck, Christian author Frank Turek, TPUSA chief field officer Andrew Sypher and Caleb Chilcut, Utah representative for TPUSA’s college department.
The memorial will begin at 6:30 p.m. MST. A livestream will be available on TPUSA’s YouTube, X, Facebook, and Rumble.
Trump honors Kirk during address
Trump delivered a keynote address Wednesday that covered various topics. Republicans at the midterm convention broke out in chants of “Charlie, Charlie,” in recognition of the late conservative activist after Trump acknowledged that Thursday is the first anniversary of his fatal shooting.
“What shocked millions of Americans was not only the fact that Charlie was murdered, as bad as it was, but also how many people made an excuse for it or cheered for it,” Trump said.
Trump also singled out Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk, who was seated at the convention next to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Suspect could face death penalty
The murder case against the Utah man accused of killing Charlie Kirk is headed for trial. Defendant Tyler Robinson faces a potential death sentence if convicted.
Earlier this month, Utah District Judge Tony Graf sided with prosecutors who said they had “overwhelming” evidence that Robinson shot Charlie Kirk.
Robinson’s lawyers have tried to block the case from proceeding to trial. They said prosecutors didn’t give enough evidence to warrant seeking the death penalty.
One of Robinson’s attorneys entered a not guilty plea on his behalf following the decision.
Charlie Kirk’s family called the ruling “an important step in our family’s pursuit of justice.”
