Cast in Bronze: Kristi Noem’s Grandiose Oversized Statue is Bigger than the Rest and that’s no surprise

We got a glimpse of the new Kristi Noem statue that will soon join the Trail of Governors on the Capitol grounds in Pierre, and it is undeniably, quintessentially Kristi.

While most governors’ statues are simple bronze figures with maybe a modest prop, Noem’s aims to be bigger and bolder than the rest—featuring a life-size horse and an elaborate sculpted backdrop.

The unveiling comes on the heels of a fresh sighting of Noem holding hands with her alleged longtime partner, Corey Lewandowski, at a Twin Cities restaurant. That follows her unceremonious ouster as Head of Homeland Security earlier this year, not to mention the tabloid storm surrounding her husband’s secret double life.

Given all that, a oversized statue seems right on brand. After all, this is the same official who spent $220 million in taxpayer funds at Homeland Security on a media campaign prominently featuring herself riding horseback against majestic landscapes.

With Kristi, it’s always all about Kristi. Now her image is cast in bronze forever, past scandals and history books be damned. She and her horse, Ice Man, look as polished as Noem did stepping out of that Texas cosmetic dentistry clinic. All that glitters isn’t gold, but it sure puts on a show.
