A California woman is still missing for more than a week, as investigators expanded their search for her into multiple new areas over the last few days.
Amy Hillyard, 52, was last seen March 25 walking her dog near the 500 block of Radnor Road. Witnesses report she was on foot at the time, wearing a tan top and tan pants, before she disappeared.
Hillyard, who co-owns Farley’s Coffee, apparently left her cell phone at home and is “at risk” due to a medical condition.
Last Thursday, the Oakland Police Department and other authorities searched Skyline Gate, a wide hiking area. Unfortunately, they could not find her after hours of searching. The place was one of her favorite places to hike and walk, according to a new website set up to provide updates on the missing persons case.
During the Easter weekend, friends of Hillyard said they are now combing through hours of footage with the hope they will spot her on the streets of Oakland and near any Bay Area Rapid Transit stops. Flyers will also continue to be distributed.
Police are planning another methodical search of surveillance video footage, too, the website said in its latest update.
Her husband, Chris, released a statement recently describing the anguish of not knowing where she is.
“As more time goes by without Amy, the agony of her absence is devastating,” he said. “We are still holding on to hope, thanks to Amy’s community of friends and volunteers who continue to search every day.”
Hillyard is white and 5-feet-4-inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with blonde hair and hazel eyes, according to a police description.
Police previously had conducted a search around Dimond Park, as some video footage taken on the last day of her appearance placed her near that area.
