USD Student Is Found Guilty In Rape Case

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A University of South Dakota student from Parkston has been convicted of third-degree rape and taking pictures without consent.
Quinn Scott Bormann, 22, was found guilty Thursday by a Yankton County jury for an incident that occurred on Nov. 1, 2024 in Yankton County, according to a news release from the South Dakota Attorney General.
“The defendant has been convicted of taking advantage of a victim who was unable to give consent,” AG Marty Jackley said in a news release. “I want to commend the victim for the courage in coming forward in this case.”
Bormann faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison for the rape charge and one year in the county jail on the taking photos without consent charge.
Bormann was on the spring 2025 Dean’s List at USD.
Bormann’s sentencing will be on March 26.
The Division of Criminal Investigation and the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
