Howard murder victim found with head trauma, stab wounds

HOWARD, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – We have new, disturbing details in the killing of a Howard woman.
According to court documents, 56-year-old Nichole Malfero was found on Dec. 6 with severe head trauma and multiple stab wounds to the neck and back.
Investigators say a witness saw 46-year-old Elias Stubbe standing over her body with a knife after an argument between Stubbe and the victim.
Deputies later found a knife, crowbar, and handsaw covered in blood and a broken hammer in the trash.
Stubbe is charged with first and second-degree murder, and DCI is leading the investigation.
